H.264/JVT is the latest international video compression standard.Compared to many existing standards,such as MPEG-1/2/4 and H.261/H.263,the coding efficiency of H.264 has been improved prominently.However,the enhanced capabilities of H.264 are at the expense of the increment of computational complexity and the heavy computationality.The complex design embarrasses its broad application.Increasing the encoding speed of H.264 has become a hot research topic at the same time of the guarantying its high compression ratio.After analyzing and researching the newest standard H.264,We achieve rapid algorithms in Motion Estimation and Mode Selection aspects.The efficient algorithm was proposed in this paper using inherent feature to judge the encoding mode of one macro-block,thus avoiding the original standard algorithm in the exhaustive search.The new algorithm is based on the correlation of the large block size and the small block size modes.It can quickly judge which small mode the sub-block should take after calculating the macro-block RD distortion of big mode.All the algorithms improve the encoding speed with a slight stream deliation and impercievalble SNR decrease,while maintaining the original H.264 standard in the stream structure.In addition,The paper reported a point-to-point video transmission system based on the laboratory LAN environment,using UDP protocol and T264 codec.It has a good transmission quality.
