Carbon content of fly ash is one of the primary targets of economy and technology in burning coal boiler, which reflects the burning efficiency of the power plant. High Carbon content of fly ash will cause severe economical losing and environmental pollution. With reforming of the electric power system and development of the testing technology, power generation enterprises pay more attention to the efficiency of boiler burning. Controlling carbon content in rational level can not only reduce the producing cost, but also can improve the utilizing efficiency of coal and reduce environmental contamination, which has extraordinary important significance to the progress of national economy.In order to realize the real-time, continuous, precise measurement of the carbon content of the fly ash in the flue of the power station, and to depress the influence of carbon density, we propose applying the theory of two-parameter system for the first time to design microwave measuring carbon meter and use six-port circuit to devise the whole two-parameter measuring system. It can transfer the measurement of the carbon content to the measurement of the microwave network parameters-phase deviation and attenuation coefficient. This paper includes the following contents:The basic theory and developmental trend of traditional microwave measuring carbon meter is proposed firstly. Based on the need of project, the conventional system structure has been ameliorated and redesigned, which means that the traditional single parameter circuit is replaced by highly precise industrial data module. A new kind of microwave measuring carbon meters is designed for the first time. Following the requirement of corporation, this new microwave measuring carbon meter has been used in power plant and the measuring result is consistent with the emulational data.The working principle of six-port network technology and two-parameter measuring system have been analyzed, which includes the framework and design of six-port circuit, perfect and factual mathematical model of the two-parameter testing system, the formula deducing and calibration of the six-port system. Then the author uses ADS and HFSS software to design and analyze the six-port circuit and two-parameter measuring system.Based on the design scheme of the whole system, the author uses different sorts of microwave apparatus and circuit modules to construct a new two-parameter six-port testing system. Then this system is tested in the laboratory and massive testing data is collected. Feasibility and practicability of this project have been proved by the contrast between the emulational results and testing data. In order to decrease the system testing error, some effective methods are introduced at last.
