Software Defined Radio (SDR) has been the trend of the research and development of radio, and its core idea is to provide a software system which can enable reuse and reprogram of common blocks on a universal hardware platform, so as to deal with the traditional inconsistent communication systems and solve the cooperating communication problems. The development cost and cycles of communication system will be infinitely reduced due to the SDR software module development characteristics. The Software Communication Architecture (SCA) is an open architecture based on SDR, and it specifies the Software Architecture, Hardware Architecture and Security Architecture of SDR, and the Application Program Interface (API). SCA utilizes the idea of modules changeable to improve the co-operation of SDR and achieve that the modules between SDRs can be portable and reusable. At the same time, SCA meets the commercial and military requirement.The waveform application development of SDR is one part of SDR development based on SCA. The waveform application development is mainly to all kinds of existing waveforms,and the waveform application can be developed separately, so that the waveform application can be loaded on any SDR and the portability of this application can be realized.Firstly, the thesis introduces the background, functional structure, application and development of SDR and sets forth SCA. Then, it introduces the hardware architecture, software architecture and key technology related to SCA in detail. After that, it discusses the modeling theory of SCA waveform application and introduces the developing procedure of simulation system. Finally, it uses Ultra short Wave as illustration to discuss the assembling, arrangement and parameter configuration procedure of the application. And furthermore, it testifies the portability, reconfiguration, and flexibility that SCA takes via experiments in response to some characteristics of simulation case, such as flexibility and reconfiguration.
