Multi-input multi-output (MIMO) system is an important scheme for the next generation wireless communication. Exploiting the channel state information at the transmitter (CSIT), precoding can significantly improve the system performance by reducing the bit error ratio (BER) and increasing the capacity. And, it is a key technology of MIMO system.Tomlinson-Harashima Precoding (THP) is a typical nonlinear precoding. It can be widely used to cancel the interference among the symbols, carriers and users, and it can also be used to equalize the MIMO channel. This paper focuses on the THP, and discusses in its application for both the multiantenna system and multiuser system. Meanwhile, the key factor has been analyzed, which can impact the performance of THP.The main content and contribution of this paper includes the following parts. The first part is multi-modulation scheme which can satisfy the different requirement for the quality of service. The second part includes antenna-spread and antenna-selection schemes which can increase the flexibility of THP and improve its performance. And the third part is an improved THP system which has a remarkable gain of the performance.This paper consists of 5 chapters. Chapter 1 reviews the basic conception of wireless communication, and introduce the basic knowledge of MIMO system and precoding. Chapter 2 introduces the knowledge of THP for both the multiantenna and multiuser system; it is the foundation of this paper. Chapter 3 discusses in the multi-modulation, antenna-spread and antenna-selection scheme for THP. Chapter 4 introduces an improved structure of THP system, which can significantly improve the performance of THP. Chapter 3 and chapter 4 are the key parts of this paper. Chapter 5 is the conclusion, and some suggestions for the further research have been given.
