The singular system has been applied to many areas such as engineer system, economey system, social system, and so on. The theory of passivity, which is proposed in 1970s, plays an important role in the study of singular system theory. The passive property means that the internal energy loss of a system is less than the energy provision, that is, the passive system has loss of energy. On the one hand, this thesis gives a sufficient and necessity condition with theory of differential geometry under which continuous and time-invariant singular system is passive. On the other hand, we also obtain a sufficient condition under which the singular system is passive, and the condition can be described by linear matrix inequalities. Based on this, passive control of singular systems is studied by using generalized inverse of matrices.
