This paper discusses a narrow-width pulsed power supply of LD. Firstly, we introduce the development and characteristics of the LD. Secondly, and we introduce the research status and the research significant of the LD's power supply. Thirdly, we analyze the operation principles and characteristics of the LD, and establish the scheme of designing the power supply of the narrow pulsed LD. Then, we discuss the design scheme and component parameters of the circuits in detail which include the nanosecond active pulsed transformer, high-peak nanosecond pulser .At present, there are many kinds of switching components for the pulsed LD.It is normal to choose the components depending on which type and what environment of the pulsed LD being used. After investigating, analysing the data and testing the circuit. A design scheme of the main cuicuit which can produce nanosecond pulse was choosed, which is based on the use of avalanche transistors in a Marx Bank circuit. We adopt two stage circuits, in which the firth stage contains a low avalanche transistor and an active impulse transformer to improve the transmission performance of the nanosecond signal. The second stage is a Marx Bank circuit, offering a large and narrow current pulse to drive the LD.After fixing and debugging the power supply. It can produce a large-amplitude nanosecond pulse and its peak currents is up to 6A, pulse width is less than 1.5ns,the rise time is less than 1ns , maximum pulse repetition frequency is up to 100kHz.At last, explicitly analyze the data obtained from the experiment, the conclusion is that the amplitude of the output nanosecond pulse is linear with the voltage supply in an interval in the nanosecond pulse generator. It establishes the groundwork for successfully carrying out the next task, and illumines the design of the ultra wide radar and so on.
