Identity authentication is the first barrier of the security system of network. But the common method such as using password isn't content with the development of technology and society. People wish to find a more convenient and reliable authentication system. In this dissertation, according to the development of identity authentication and the characteristic of face recognition, a novel system for identity authentication based on face recognition and ID is discussed.At first, the development of identity authentication is summarized, and by analyzing the characteristic of identity authentication and face recognition, the functional module and the workflow of this system are designed. Then the algorithm of face detection, characteristics extraction and face recognition are studied deeply. In face detection and characteristic extraction part, a quick, efficient and steady face detection algorithm based on skin color and geometry characteristics information is introduced, and a novel algorithm of close contour line extraction is presented. This contour line is close and the width of this contour line is only one pixel. And picking up the pixels is in order, which is good for reducing the time complexity. In face recognition part, the algorithm of SVM is adopted. The recognition rate of the multi-class method that is One Against One,One Against the Rest,Decision Directed Acyclic Graplu Hierarchical SVM and the recognition rate of the kernel function that is Multinomial Function,Radial Basis Function and Sigmoid Function are compared. The result shows that the recognition rate of Hierarchical SVM is better than the others, and the recognition rate of Multinomial Function and Radial Basis Function are better than Sigmoid Function. Finally, the dual-factor identity authentication system is designed and implemented.This system, integrating face recognition with ID, is not only improving the security, but also improving the speed. It is a reliable and efficient authentication system.
