Resting on the research of turntable-based 3D reconstruction, this system we developedconsists of a turntable and a camera, on which the object can rotate with the turntable butthe camera is fixed. This paper mainly focuses on the following problems:1. Image acquisition and match. A sequential images acquisition method is proposed, which an image is taken while turntable rotates anticlockwise or clockwise; anapproach is designed to group sequential images so that information can be extractedeffectively. For grouped sequential images, a method of corresponded grid nodes isadopted based on 2D Neighbor Node Table.2. System calibration. Because rotation axis of turntable is different from any axis ofcoordinate system calibrated by target, a method is offered to fulfill the calibration ofrotation axis, which uses cubic target and adopts Homograph Theory. In order tosimplify calibration process, a specifically designed cylinder target and the turntableis placed coaxially while camera and rotation axis can be calibrated simultaneously.3. 3D reconstruction and data integration. This paper establishes a novel modelnamed Equivalent Measurement which multi-view stereo vision function is achievedby a fixed single camera, Epipolar Line Constraint is adopted in this process, and 3Dobject reconstruction is fulfilled with known rotation angle. We present a newprocedure for 3D object reconstruction with unknown rotation angle by using thecharacteristics of both perspective projection and rotation in a dynamic stereo model.Data integration algorithm is presented to integrate all the 3D data sets. Both ellipse and polyhedron tea boxes are reconstructed and integrated successfully inthis system which demonstrates its availability and efficiency.
