Search engine itself is a new and esoteric technique, including some technical aspects like segmentation, document classify, feature extraction, indexing, storage, retrieval and ranking. In these areas, ranking is most relevant to users. When users input a keyword, if search engine locates the web pages users wanted to bottom pages, it is almost impossible for the user to browse through the website, thus greatly reducing the user's satisfaction. This paper is mainly on the search engine ranking problem. We first study the literature, and research on the common ranking algorithms of universal search engines, such as the word frequency and location algorithm, Direct Hit algorithm, Alexa website ranking algorithm, Google's ranking algorithm. We research on the important factors of the ranking of search engine. Through experiments we work out some possible factors. Moreover, basic education search engine is a specific search engine. The users of specific search engines have specific backgrounds, hoping the retrieved pages are related. In universal search engine, a keyword search on the web page is located in a variety of topics. We put topic relativity factor and calculate it. We combine this factor with universal search engine. It can help the ranking of professional search engine meet users' need. The experiments show that this ranking strategy is reasonable and feasible.Based on the research of ranking at the same time, we do lots of research on the users' evaluation of search engine. And comparative study on several major search engines such as the performance, retrieving means, and search results, hoping to promote our research projects.
