Traveling wave tube(TWT) is one of the most important equipments in electricity vacuum equipments which is a kind of high power, high gain and broad-band microwave millimeter wave amplifiers. They are widely used in communication, rader system, and electronic warfare, taking an irreplaceable role in modern military electronic equipments and communication. The subject of "CAD technology research of Wide Band Power TWT" is independently put forward by the China which is a long-term high-technology subject. "CAD technology research of Wide Band Power TWT" is the key step from the design to manufacture for TWT. the UESTC took in hand the research of the five most important modules from 2003 and impoldered the "CAD Integrated Environment of Wide Band Power TWT" software which included UESTC_Gun software and UESTC_Helix software and UESTC_BWT software and UESTC_MDC software and UESTC_fPPM software.With the guide of the research group in "CAD technology research of Wide Band Power TWT", the paper did some research in the high frequency system in helix TWT.Chapter one described the development of TWT and then did some introductions of CAD technology and coupling system.In order to optimize the "CAD Integrated Environment of Wide Band Power TWT" software, chapter two summed up the methods about the high frequency system in helix TWT firstly. And then compared the traditional boundary matching with the D.Chernin's theory and pointed out the advantages of the latter in precision and complexity. And so the D.Chernin's theory can be used in the UESTC_Helix software after we considered the depth of helix.With the consideration of the depth of helix in D.Chernin's theory, the software of computing characters of high frequency slow-wave system was produced in visual c++ 6.0. Aiming at there different types holding poles the paper gave the dispersion and interaction impedance results. The results are compared with the results of supposing the current density is constant and the results of MAFIA. We found that the results of this paper were closer to the MAFIA results. The software can compute dispersion and interaction impedance of helix with different width, and so we can optimize the best width of helix according to the computation results. It was very useful in the design of helix in project. At last, this chapter gave the dispersion and interaction impedance results of harmonic using the curve fitting.Chapter four described the design of coupler equipments. The paper schemed out the coupler equipments which work from 6GHz to 18GHz. The simulation results show that the VSWR is below 1.07 in import coupling equipment and the VSWR is below 1.5 in export coupling equipment. A fact helix is used to validate the coupling equipments and the VSWR results show that the coupling equipments can work well from 6GHz to 18GHz in project.Chapter five summarized and concluded the whole dissertation. Further research issues and possible research directions were pointed out.
