Digital TV is moving forward quickly in China nowadays, and it has been the general trends that DTV will substitute anolog TV. In addition, HDTV also begins to stride with the coming Olympic Games in Beijing, 2008, and there's no doubt that HDTV will take the place of SDTV to become the dominant DTV service in the near future. However, considering the compatibility in these transition days, the HDTV receiver at present should have multiple anolog and digital video output interfaces, and should be able to deal with SDTV service at the same time.This dissertation is based on the subject of"DVB-C High Definition Digital TV STB". In this subject the STi7710 provided by STMicroelectronics is selected as the hardware platform and the RTOS ST-OS20 is used as the software environment correspondingly. This subject follows the"China Digital Media HDTV-STB technique standard"and accords with the principle of cable DTV-STB. This subject aims at designing and completing of DTV terminal software adapted to both HDTV and SDTV services. The author has accomplished the following missions with some creative points:1) The tranditional STBs only support Analog SD Video Output Interface, but this subject supports the Analog SD Video Output Interface, the Analog HD Video Output Interface and the Digital HD Video Output Interface, and it also supports different video resolution and scan type including 1080i, 720p, 576i, 576p.2) The tranditional STBs don't have independent graphic function module and only support SD user-menu, but this subject is based on absolutely independent video-graphics subsystem and supports interactive user-menus in Chinese which can be displayed both in HDTV and SDTV, and the user can make his/her choice conveniently.3) The tranditional STBs can always only provide users the basic EPG functions such as the programs information both at present and in the future seven days, but this subject additionally supports EPG which can groupe programs according to contents, schedule any program within the future 7 days, and provide Parents-control based on the modifiable password.In this dissertation, the author analyzes the technical trend of DTV and HDTV, and refers to the ST platforms briefly. Then according to the"China Digital Media HDTV-STB technique standard", it describes the feasible method and accomplishment for multiple anolog and digital video output interfaces and HDTV-STB receiver software in detail. The HD-SD compatibility in this dissertation grounds the more multifunctional HDTV-STB in the near future.
