Moving Targets Detection and Imaging (MTDI) is hot in Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) research and plays an important role in both martial field and civilian field. Now many countries in the world are making great efforts to develop advanced MTDI systems and explore high efficient MTDI algorithms. The key techniques of MTDI are studied in this dissertation for getting high detection probabilityThe major work of this dissertation is as follows.l. After analyzing the model of moving targets'echoes, the changes of Doppler history are discussed in detail, which are due to targets'moving. It is analyzed that the influence of the changes on the conventional SAR imaging. And it is also analyzed that the range migration of moving targets in frequency domain.2. The algorithms of MTDI are divided into several classes, and those common methods are summarized in detail. After that, the other methods are introduced briefly.3. The method of MTDI based on an eigendecomposition of the multi-channel covariance matrix is introduced briefly. The DPCA metric represented in eigenvalues and eigenvectors form is introduced. The detection capability of DPCA decrease when the channel correlation coefficient reduce and the reason is analyzed4. An improved multi-channel SAR GMTI method based on the CFAR rule is investigated. This method is based on an eigendecomposition of the multi-channel covariance matrix. This target detector fully uses the different information of the amplitude and phase of the echoes and also uses information of the correlation of channels. Comparing with the DPCA method, it shows that the new method is not sensitive to the correlation coefficient of channels. If the correlation coefficient reduces, the capability of the DPCA will decrease, but the new detector still has a good capability of GMTI.5. In order to reduce the calculated load of the improved method, the improved metric is optimized. The optimized metric becomes more efficient and the calculated load is reduced.
