Computed Tomography (CT) images have been widely used for disease diagnosis. 3D reconstruction based on CT data can enhance doctor's diagnosis efficiency and serve directly for the surgical clinical operation. It has been an important research area recent years.Image segmentation is a kind of image processing technique that divides an image into several child areas. Those areas are not intersecting and each area has its own property. Image segmentation is a key step in image processing. It is also a synthetic research task which is related to medical and computer science. With the rapid development of medicine, image segmentation is taking an important role in medical application. That segment the liver and its intern vessels from the abdomen CT images, is a basic premise of the liver virtual surgery system. So, researching computer technology to extract liver contour automatically, has been an important problem. In this article, after analysis the character and the comparability of abdomen liver CT images, one kind segmentation method which grows based on the region has been put forward. Through the experiment, good results have been obtained finally.First, the background and the significance of this topic research are introduced. After analysis the development present situation and the tendency of domestic and foreign medicine image division, main research content and frame of this article have been outlined. Next, one kind segmentation method which grows based on the region has been put forward. Through the experiment, good results have been obtained. Finally, after summary and the analysis to entire paper work, further studies direction has been pointed out.
