In this dissertation, the fast measuring technology of sugar solution concentrationwas researched theoretically and experimentally in detail using principle of opticalrotation effect.Firstly, the optic axis of polarizer and polar light beam divider—Wollaston prismwas adjusted to 45°angles and fixed. The homogeneous laser radiated bysemi-conductor laser with 650 nanometer (nm) were turned into linear polarization lightafter passing polarizer. Then the light passed the sugar solution box with circumgyratingdeterminate angles of the polarization plane, shoot into Wollaston prism. The linearpolarization light was divided into two polarizations light which polarize direction wasorthogonal. This two light was detected by two beam path photoelectron detector andsent to computer which will calculate and dispose the two beam signals withdifference-division-sum formula. The data was collected and processed. And theaverage of it was as to the rotation angles of sugar solution in this consistency. The optical rotation of sugar solution is determined by consistence, so a uniquecertain function describing sugar solution consistence to the results calculated bycomputer, exists. This relationship might be got by experiment as standard curve(obtained by measuring series different consistence sugar solution standard samples).Hence, the determination of unknown sugar solution consistence can be done throughcomparing with the standard curve. Two light path detecting method using Wollastonprism as polarization analyzer efficiency avoids errors which induced by fluctuate ofsource. This method with higher precision and simple process is propitious to apply.Three kinds sugar solution that dextrose, sucrose, fructose were measuredrespectively using this system. The relative errors of dextrose solution range 0-50 g/100ml are 0.84%. The errors of sucrose solution range 0-40 g/100 ml are0.82%, and t heerrors of fructose solution range 0-30 g/100 ml are 0.98%. The measurement resultsindicate that the method is right and reach the intention.Through theoretic research and gauging experiments, we've known that the keypoint of the method is the chose of the source and length of sample box. If we wanted to apply experiment achievement to industry field, so the measure system must easy tocarry, and measure fast. Satisfying request of that, semi-conductor laser which havesmall capacity and simple drive power was selected finally as experiment light sourceafter comparing with some kinds familiar light source, such as light of Na, He-Ne laser,semi-conductor. The length of solution box not only determines the range of consistence, but affects directly miniaturization and apparatus. So, in the range of making suremeasure errors, considering factors that the source wavelength of this experiment andthe formula approximately, we chose conformable solution box length used inexperiment and measured the range of consistence. In summarize, the experiment system we established achieve the anticipative desirebasically, can measure the consistency of sugar solution in the allowable error range, attain the intention which making measurement equipment to miniaturization andapparatus.
