Face Simulated Portrait Retrieval

Face recognition technique attracts much attention in the field of pattern recognition, which use computer to analyze digital face image and exact effective information for figure identification. Simulacrum face sketch used in police detecting unlike ordinary portrait painting, it is being produced by imagination and feeling which depend on eyewitness's nuncupationSimulacrum face sketch retrieval is a practical application technique, which based on face recognition, penal physiognomy and digital image retrieval. It processes the simulacrum face sketch and searches the similar face photos in digital face photo database. That can help the police detectives shrink the amount of the suspect's number and crack the criminal case.The studies in this paper meet the urgent needs of the police pursuit on net, and promote the evolvement of Golden Shield Project. Firstly we study the algorithms of the face image normalization, which can be use in the face image database in China Criminal Center. Secondly an self adaptive method is presented to detect the edge of the face photo and the simulacrum face sketch. We exact three statistical features form the edge image for simulacrum face sketch retrieval. Thirdly we develop the simulacrum face sketch retrieval algorithm and give the results in our experiments. In the experiments an image database is established. Lastly an estimate of the retrieval algorithm is given.
