Wide-band radar is potentially advanced than traditional narrow-band radar at clutter suppression, detection and tracking, target recognition, anti-reconnaissance, and anti-interference. It is an important research area in modern radar technology.Traditional radar detection theory is based on the assumption of point target and narrow-band clutter, which can't achieve best performance in wide-band radar any longer. Therefore, the research about the wide-band radar point target and clutters statistical characteristics model, and detection methods have become the forefront of radar signal processing research in the world. In recent years, Radar Signal Detection of wide-band radar has achieved some valuable developments, but clutter spectrum calculation, clutter suppression and wide-band MTD haven't been well resolved yet. In this paper, investigations are carried aiming at these issues and are summed as follows.1. Wide-band radar distributed targets echo model is developed, and the characteristics of the echo are studied. Then the regulation of the envelop migration of multi-pulse echo and the change of Doppler frequency is analyzed.2. Analyze the formation mechanism and the characteristics of wide-band radar clutter. Then bring forward a calculation method for the clutter power spectrum of arbitrary attitude wide-band radar.3. The influence of the signal bandwidth to signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and selection principle of the optimum bandwidth are pointed out based on compare of the wide-band and narrow-band's SNR. Then the methods for Clutter-whitening measure are researched.4. Research the methods for single pulse detection feasible to wide-band radar, and the comparative analysis have been done on the performance and characteristics of those methods. Then the feasibility of RPPT method is proved by simulation.5. The Coherent-Radon-MTD algorithm based on improved radon has been proposed, it aimed at the units migration multi-targets accumulation in wide-band non-stationary clutter Analyze the performance of the methods, and validate the feasibility of the methods by simulation and experiment data.Broadband Distributed model, goal of walking regulation, clutter power spectrum calculation methods and RPPT algorithm's feasibility have been validated by the simulation. And simulation results show that Coherent-Radon transform can achieve coherent accumulation of the Doppler signal with arbitrary rate in echo data plane. It could also gather the signal energy and improve SNR effectively, therefore, it is particular suitable for the low SNR signal detection.Wide-band radar is advanced than traditional narrow-band radar at clutter suppression, detection and tracking, object recognition, anti-reconnaissance, anti-interference and anti-stealth. It is an important development direction in modern radar technology.
