Research And Implementation Of The Telecommunications Process Model

With the fast growing of telecommunication industry, network basic facilities and user number has reached to a considerable business scope. How to effectively manage and utilize these resources has been a key issue for the operators. eTOM is a business process model or framework. It provides required enterprise process to the service provider. eTOM aims at managing the enterprise through the business process in which three high level processes strategies, operations and assurance are involved and integrated with each other. Service provider needs such universal process framework to assure it to communicate and do the trade with other entities effectively and efficiently. At the same time, less customization is required in third party's software development and application. In e-business environment, the common interpretation on process plays a significant role in the management of more and more complicated business in telecommunication market.One common issue all operators concern is how to guide practitioners automatically or semiautomatically develop integrated process, unified data definition, and extensible IT system architecture based on business requirements. This thesis aims at doing pilot research and development of eTOM's aided tools - Telco Process Model (TPM) to help practitioners develop telecommunication integrated process efficiently.Eclipse is not only an excellent IDE (Integrated Development Environment). Further more, it provides us with an open framework and group of services. It implments a Rich Client Platform with perfect plugin mechanism which helps construct high extensibility, performance and good UI experiences clients.Eclipse RCP is considered as the best practice guide to construct plugin system based on OSGI (Open Service Gateway Initiative). Many exciting plugin application as EMF(Eclipse Modeling Framework), GEF(Graphical Editor Framework)will be used in system.
