Research And Development, Asp-based Online Learning System

On-Line Education is a teaching and learning environment accessible to both teachers and learners by taking advantage of the educational function and resources of the network. In this environment, digitalized information of education can be transmitted and synchronous or asynchronous interactive teaching activities can be conducted. On-Line Education is characterized by shared educational resources, free space and time for learning, multi-direction interaction and easy cooperation.The On-Line Teaching system, as a supplement to traditional education, has been widely developing in many universities. But in my college (School of vocational technology of Leshan) it has developed slowly in the past. There hasn't been an On-Line Teaching system till now. At present, the college has four campuses for limited conditions. Many teachers have to rush out among these campuses just only for one course. As a result, teaching is rather inconvenient in my college. So we need to develop an On-Line Education system in our college. The On-Line Teaching system can not only solve the teaching problems above, but also improving the development of On-Line Education in our college.The creation of the On-Line Teaching system is expected to center on the teaching material, consider the actual need in teaching and be developed via mature computer network technology. Based on detailed studies of the kernel technology of the On-Line Teaching system and comparisons, a technological platform similar to an education Website, the mature ASP technology has been selected. Considering to the practical environment of our college, I have presented a design scheme for the On-Line Teaching system: based on Browser/Server structure; divided into the teacher sub-system and the student sub-system including many function modules, such as release and browse of bulletin, release course, release and check of homework, on-line answering questions, real time discuss etc.This system has been incorporated into the college network and has basically attained the intended goal after being tested. The advantages of this system lie in its friendliness of operation, practicality of functions and convenient management. This system is expected to play an important role in improving the teaching and developing of On-Line Education in our college.
