Duan Collated Studies

Testual critism of Qian and Jia period in Qing Dynesty reaches its unprecedented prime with abundant fruits produced. DuanYucai ,a distinguished presentative of the discipline, has left us with products in its unprecedented prime.He makes contribution to the development of testual critism in Qing Dynesty in whatever aspects—creation and re formation of the method or the unique insight to the thought of the subject.The dissatation is divided into five parts to comment and research his testual critism.The first part is about Duan's family, the period in which he lived and the people he met with. Though the achievements Duan has made most partly from his own efforts, they also have a great relation with his family ,the period and his social relation.Part 2 is about Duan's practice and achievements of textual criticism. Duan has collated many books in all his life, especially in his works of《ShuoWenJieZiZhu》.In this part 13 books are introduced from the collagues of the other books and what I have seen.Part 3 deals with Duan's thoughts of textual criticism.In this part five aspects are concerned in discussing these thoughts in as many details as possible.Part 4 is concerned about the methord of testual criticism. The great achievements he makes in textual criticism benefits from some possible methods he obtains from his many years' collating practice.Part 5 is about the christeristic of Duan's testual critism and his status in history.Duan established his status in history in such aspects as collating methods,collating theories and so on.Bing limited by subjective and objective conditions,the books collated by Duan sometimes are worth delibreting in some aspects. For example ,some people as WengFanggang , ChenShouqiand GuQianli pointed some nistakes in Duan's collated works.However,we can not efface great achievements on many account merely because of these mistakes,we must give a fair historical comment on DuanYucai.
