Generator Control Unit plays an important role in Aircraft Power Supply System. It is designed to the meet the output voltage requirements of APSS by regulating field current, implement various faults protections, faults detection and isolation, built-in test, and communicate with Non-aerial Monitoring Processor. It provides operation states information of APSS and generator and fault information for airman to assure safe flight.Based on the analysis and research of Generator Control Unit functions, principle and structure in Constant Speed Constant Frequency and narrow Variable Frequency power supply systems, the architecture and functions of digital generator controller general development platform is designed. In this dissertation, it presents a structure with two central process units to make sure that the voltage regulator and other functions are independent. Digital signal processor TMS320F2812 is adopted as the processor. The detail design of hardware and software is discussed. The main functions of GCU are implemented and improved. A new function communication with computer is added. Reliability and Electromagnetic Compatibility are also considered as a very important part of the system.The general development platform has a good performance. It can be used to design new Generator Control Unit for aircraft power supply system or power system.
