With the rapid development of semiconductor technology and people's awareness of the energy crisis, high efficiency and high power density has become a trend for switching power supply in recent years. Traditional analog switching mode power supply control technology has some insuperable disadvantages in terms of achieving high efficiency and high power density, such as control circuit complexity, large component counts, poor parameter consistency and so on. Digital power technology is introduced to solve these problems. Digital power technology, is mainly centered on digital signal controllers, to achieve real-time digital feedback loop control as well as operating parameters and status monitoring for power supply through digital power control and management techniques. Compared with traditional analog power, digital power gains a lot of advantages like smaller size, higher efficiency, better parameters consistency, and can be used as platform.This paper realized a digital power software system based on Freescale's DSC. It achieves the voltage conversion from grid line AC voltage to stable DC low voltage by controlling the hardware of switching power supply. The system uses digital PID control algorithm, adopting dual control loops including outer voltage loop and inner current loop to achieve real-time feedback loop control to ensure the stability of the output DC voltage; Use object-oriented software design method in power monitoring and management software design, making the timing and logic of power management software clear and highly modular; Implemented the digital power management bus PMBus protocol to gain remote monitoring and management capabilities, which greatly enhance the intelligence of the power supply.Based on a real project of company this paper introduces a digital power solution after in-depth analysis of the features of digital power. It completed the module division and development based on the requirements, and realized all the required functions. Meanwhile, the system passed comprehensive tests including function tests, performance tests and reliability tests to verify the feasibility and reliability. It achieved the desired objective. The digital power systems designed by this paper has broad application prospects, with its advantages in efficiency, accuracy and flexibility it can fit various kinds of applications.
