Ultra wide band (UWB) is a new technology of wireless short-distance communication. It realizes communication by transmitting modulated wide-band pulse. UWB has robust performance in high data rate, low power cost and resisting multi path fading. This paper focuses on the key techniques of UWB communication steeply. First the author discusses the modeling of UWB impulse and UWB impulse forming methods, gives the detailed arithmetic of UWB pulse forming, which can be adopted by differently complicated UWB transceiver systems. Then the author emphasizes particularly on the PAM-DS-UWB and PPM-TH-UWB modulation methods and simulates them in computer, moreover who deduces the relationship of pseudo-random sequences spectrum and PAM-DS-UWB signal spectrum, and estimates the M-PAM and M-PPM transmission budget. The relation of bit error rate, transmission distance, SNR, and parameters of M-ray modulation is concluded by the author in this paper. The emphases of this paper are in the multi-path channel and Rake receiver. The author offers the simulation of IEEE 802.15.3a commendatory four channel modeling and the contrast of effects caused by AWGN and multi-path channel to Rake receiver, also considers the equalization of complexity and performance of Rake receiver which adopts MRC arithmetic. At last the author investigates the reason of synchronization time error when pilot sequences pass through the AWGN and multi-path channel using pilot sequences synchronization manner. The study of the thesis has partial reference value in UWB communication research.
