Data Mining Applied Research In Psychological Problems

Recently, the psychology of undergraduate students are regarded at large, the research and intervention patterns of which are the hotspots. The data mining (DM) technology is superior to others in the aspect of finding out the hidden laws of data. With the maturation of DM and the expansion of its applications, many scholars begin to study how to apply DM to the teaching and management of higher education. After lots of literatures referred and DM deeply understanded, it is studied that the application of DM to the psychology of undergraduate students.In this paper, some concepts, fundament, task, and methods of DM are introduced. It is analysed that the feasibility of the application of DM to the psychology of undergraduate students, and the ID3 algorithm of classification mining and Apriori algorithm of association mining are studied. A decision tree is build based on Quinlan's ID3 algorithm: firstly selecting the most related attribute (the lowest negentropy) as the root node, then ID3 continues to call itself recursively for remaining attributes. Then the decision tree generated from classification mining can be used to perform prediction. Based on Apriori algorithm, association mining can find the relation of the psychology fault and the attributes of the students, which can provide some decision information to the health care of psychology, and enhance the purpose of psychology education.A DM software system for the psychology of undergraduate students is developed, which can be used to realize several function, such as, the access and preprocess of data file, the mining of the classification and association rules, the explain and saving of rules, as well as the requirement analysis, workflow and functional modules are discussed. An usecase of the proposed software system to the psychology data mining of 2005 grade students in ShaoXing college of arts and sciences are given to validate the data mining methods.
