The microbial website is able to provide users with detailed information and the sharing of data and other information resources. And network database technology is the key to its application. Thus, under the conditions of the existing network technology, study and application of practical data management, maintenance, inquiries and dissemination of technical inquiries and establishing a unified microbial resources information management platform is of far-reaching significance to the development of microbial resources information and information sharing, this requires the establishment of the Microbial Information Management System.In this paper, we study the image preprocessing algorithms which could improve image quality, and it lays a solid foundation for content-based image retrieval technique. Based on the Content-Based Image Retrieval and the feature of microbial images, we study the best feature extraction methods: as it is hard to find a good segmentation algorithm suitable for the different types of microbial images, we study the Shape Index algorithm to extract the shape of images. And because microbial images overlap seriously, we study the Co-matrix algorithm to extract the texture of images. This paper presents the Shape Index algorithm and the Co-matrix algorithm, and the experiments show the former is better than the latter, and the combination of the two algorithms could improve the precision effectively. The design model makes the system have very good scalability and reusability.The design and implementation of microbial information management systems has been realized in this paper. The data of common description of microbial resources (standard Word documentations) can be inserted into the database management automatically through the use of VBA. And it achieves high efficiency of inserting information resources by the remote clients. We use the computer network technology and database technology to develop microbial resource database. The data of common description of microbial resources automatically can be inserted into the database management automatically. Effective search and information sharing of the imageinformation and text information retrieval based on the web microbial has been realized.
