The Electric Point Machine is the terminal execution machine of the orbit switch equipment in railway system, it is mainly used to tow the points in order to change the direction of points and to indicate the points' position. The portable Electric Point Machine Tester is a special instrument used on the spot, which is applied to test the electric point machine on the orbit. It is mainly used to test the change of output force and current of the Electric Point machine when it is running , thus, it can help the worker to analyse the working state of orbit switch system immediately. In this thesis, the whole process of designing the portable Electric Point Machine Tester based on μC/OS-II is particularly illustrated. First, the tester's requirements about operating functions and precision are analyzed; the whole structure of the tester and how to meet the requirements of the precision are advanced. Then, the tester's hardware circuit and hardware driver programme are completed .At last, the μC/OS-II is transplanted to the ARM, and the application is completed in the form of multitask. The LPC2214 which is the ARM7TDMI microcontroller of Philips is the core of the tester's hardware circuit, the circuit also contains 1M bytes' SRAM and 64M bytes' Flash, thus, the tester can process a large number of data in a short time, and the user can get a large data space which is used to save the tests' record. The tester have a 320*240 graphics LCD which can make the user see the tests' curve clearly in the sun. Instead of RS-232 serial port, using USB1.1 interface can decrease the transmission time between the tester and PC evidently. The design of software is based on the real time operating system μC/OS-II, then, the application is carved up a number of tasks which is managed by the real time core. The real-time process of tester is kept by the method called "time-interrupt". In the form of multitask, the stability of the application is enhanced and the designer can upgrade the application easily. The tester can get all the native correlative information from the PC through the USB interface, then, the user can select the correlative information from the menu of tester, besides, the tester can also transmit all the saved tests' recorder to the PC and form database for later browsing, analyzing and...
