With the development of the IC process, in the areas of the mixed-signal ICs and analog ICs, many analog companies have paid much more attentions to design reference on chip and monolithic reference ICs.Principles of reference ICs and how to obtain better temperature stability are analyzed in this paper. At the same time, based on two different ideas of temperature compensation, a voltage reference and a current reference are designed by 0.6μm BCD process and 0.5μm standard CMOS process separately. Input voltages of the voltage reference and current reference designed in this paper, range from 1.8V to 5.5V, and temperature coefficients of these two reference circuits are 5.9 ppm/℃and 0.7 ppm/℃respectively.Two different ideas of high-order temperature compensation has been proposed. One idea is approximate high-order temperature compensation method, and the other is precise high-order temperature self-compensation. One voltage reference circuit based on the first idea and one current reference circuit based on the second idea have been designed.Based on the analysis of high-order temperature compensation methods and reference circuit designs, the author of this paper has completed the simulation of current reference and voltage reference on temperature stability by using HSPICE. The relative valuable simulation results proved these two kinds of temperature-compensated reference circuits to be useable.
