Recently, with the fast development of wireless communication, theelectromagnetic frequency used by wireless communication becomes very narrow. So,the requirement of filter's performance for wireless communication is becoming harderand harder, this means that the filter should have flat group delay response in passbandand enough attenuation out of band, besides the common requirement of small size,high selection and low insert loss. Usually the General Chebyshev filter is used to meetthese hard requirements.The transmission zeros of General Chebyshev filter could be placed in any position,so the attenuation out of band is controllable, then a high selection performance couldget. In addition, through some special cross couple, the complex transmission zeroescould be formed to improve the group delay response and decrease the distortion.This thesis gives a whole procedure of synthesis the General Chebyshev filter anda variety of couple matrix reducing methods for different topological structures. Furthermore, a process of design a linear phase filter with six coaxial cavities is presented andthe measured result is recorded. At last, based on MATLAB GUI language, a filtersynthesis program is designed, which makes the General Chebyshev filter synthesis fastand simple. A good agreement between the measured result and the synthesized oneverifies validity of the program. It would be helpful in engineering application.
