With the number increasement of array antenna element, traditional electronics technology cannot meet the requirement of real-time processing. Compared with electronics technology, optical technology has its own advantage: extremely broad instant radiation bandwidth, working at RF high-frequency (18-26.5GHz), compact structure, being light, no interference by electromagnetic wave, being convenient for remote control as well as reconstruction and high wave packet scanning velocity, etc.. Furthermore, during recent two decades, with the improvement of manufacture crafts and development of various optical-electronic devices, broad future is seen as to resolve of some difficult problems in research of modern array antenna. Based on above analysis, optical technology is introduced in research of array antenna so as to improve function of the whole radar system. The main work of this paper is about the useful search on the application of optical technology in array antenna beamformering. Firstly the concept, theory and application of adaptive filtering are introduced, and the LMS algorithm is discussed detaily. Secondly, the principle and application of optical refractive crystal is given, an implementation system of LMS algorithm based on the optical refractive crystal is given and discussed. Thirdly, a line array CCD signal collection system is presented, and the signal is subjected to A/D conversion before being input into the computer via USB interface, which helps to get prepared for subsequent processing.
