In recent years, there has been a major increase in available multimedia and in technologies to access the multimedia. However, the extraction of useful information from multimedia and the application of this information in practical systems are still open problems.Now,many text information search enginges are available,but all of them can't sustain multimedia such as A/V data yet.Therefore, how to search quickly and efectively the interested multimedia matelerials has been a challenging problem.In future .multimedia services based on the content is need to provide rapid and effective retrieval services. Content Based Retrieval ( CBR) refers to retrieving directly from the various features of content. The main idea is based on the information of media such as the color, veins, shape and space relations of object, to establish vector features of media.The retrieval methods are mainly based on the multidimensional features to query . Accompanied by MPEG-7 standards constituted and the promotion of P2P networks, based on the content of the video retrieval applications technology has been further developed. MPEG-7 emphasis is to provide new standardized multimedia content description programmes for the multimedia features ,so the lower layer and the semantic description of the multimedia can be interoperability, compatibility and flexibility. P2P refers to the technology that different PC users can exchange of data sharing or services directly without relay equipment, it can built a bridge between the different equipments that connect to the Internet and protocols established of the Internet .So that different desktop computing environment (Windows PC, Macintosh, Unix & Linux) can correspond freely. Primarily advantages of P2P is in large-scale sharing of resources and searching information, the use of P2P networks retrieving video based on the content not only can retrieve deeply and update real-time but also can store video data distributed and calculate distributedly to extract video features. compared with C/S model,it has obvious advantages.
