Research On Image Retrieval Technique Based On MPEG-7 Shape Descriptor

More and more images are widely used and CBIR technology becomes one of the hot research topics at the corner of the multimedia age. However, the generality of the GBIR system cannot be guaranteed because there is no standard to describe its contents for the complexity and diversity of information. MPEG-7 is just the international standard for normalizing this multimedia content description, which enables description and information content relative closely. MPEG-7 makes it possible to inquire and access multimedia rapidly and effectively.In this paper, the main objective aims at the image retrieval based on MPEG-7. Some conclusions as follows are made.· How to pick up the shape descriptor from MPEG-7 is studied thoroughly and some retrieval experimentations and performance analysis on regional shape descriptor is done.· DART method based on regional shape ART arithmetic in MPEG-7 is put forward , which is used in discrete digital image implementation.· One picking-up method ARS shape descriptor is put forward. Theretrieving result of ARS shape descriptor is far better than DART which is based on regional shape too.· Adopting pre-deal technique by using global value limen based on lumen to segment images before retrieving image's object shape descriptor. The result shows that retrieval system benefit from that pre-deal technique.· A practical image retrieval system is developed by using regional shape.
