With the emergence of more and more new wideband wireless communication technology, it is difficult to overcome the wireless channel. The work of overcoming it calls for understanding channel modeling well. Channel modeling is based on understanding the channel of band well.My task is mainly to study UWB indoor channel model. UWB is an attractive wireless technology in recent years. It has a promising application in indoor wireless access to multi-media. UWB indoor channel modeling is an undetermined question. The study is help for selecting UWB PHY standards, help for asseting system performance and link budget. And the study will quicken the step of civil and commercial application.Firstly, the thesis discusses UWB technology application, regulation and the standard. And the importance of UWB indoor channel modelling is pointed out. Then classic indoor channel transmission characteristics and methods of the modelling are given. Those are theory basics of the thesis.Secondly, the measurement and simulation of UWB indoor channels are examined. Both time domain and frequency domain measurement techniques are discussed. The advantages and disadvantages of each technique are pointed out. Other important issues, such as triggering, calibration, interference and noise are also addressed. Signal distortions due to the transmit and receive antennas, as well as the dispersive properties of building materials in the propagation channel, are pointed out in measurement results. The electromagnetic simulation of ultra wideband signal propagation in indoor environments is discussed. The simulation accounts for the radiation characteristics of the transmitting and receiving antennas and reflections, refraction, and diffraction of waves by the surrounding walls and objects in the channel.Then the statistical channel modeling for UWB indoor, including large-scale and small-scale models, is discussed. The large-scale model in agreement among free space, shadow effect and antenn effect is presented on the basic of traditional path loss model. And the desigen of link budget is given.
