The Information technology applied in the field of relic management and research greatly improves work efficiency and research progress. Also, there is great demand for using new information technology into the traditional Jian Du research methods to change the current low work efficiency status.This paper is based on the subject of "cultrural relic protection key technique study", which is under the support of the National Science and Technology Department's Tenth Five-year Plan. The aim is to design and develop a comprehensive Image Information System with a friendly user interface for JIAN DU research. The core is based on characteristics of JIAN DU research and using advanced technology.The detailed implementation includes integration of a lightweight development technique which can react rapidly with the development of the JIAN DU system. It allows the programmers to expand the software function without changing any existing code, which brings more flexibility. Moreover, the lightweight technique community provides Open-Source without any charge, brings the research within academic institutes more convenience.According to the design and implementation of this system, more achievement includes:1. Using core of SPRING, one leading web lightweight development frame and integrating other excellent open-source modules including Hibernate, WebWork etc, a general-used set of web lightweight development frame has been built up, which gives programmers the possibility to set up web application programs efficiently.2. Based on this leading web lightweight development frame, designed and implemented a comprehensive JIAN DU Information System with professional image processing function; System achieves excellent coupling, easy expanding and maintenance features.3. Some exploration and first-hand experience has been accumulated during the design for this interdisciplinary research between and ancient JIAN DU treasure and the new information technology, which explores a new way for both researches.4. In-depth practice for web lightweight development helps gaining more experience in real application and development using this advanced technology and realizing further about the great assistance from open-source software to our education and research within academic institutes.
