In recent years, with the development of human genome projects( HGP) in the world, genetic code that decodes the human beings and model system has been an important subject in biographical field, while produced huge genome information. It is absolutely necessary content for the study of human genome to analyze these information and it also promotes the production and development of the bioinformatics.The core issue for bioinformatics is development of the database: how to collect, store, manage and offer bio-information; Database is the main issue of the bioinformatics.At the moment, the most important bioinformatics database in the world is mainly located in Europe, US and Japan. The development of bioinformatics in China is relatively late. We mainly use the local mirror of international bio-informatics resources as SRS (sequence retrieval system) mirror system in Beijing University. Therefore, develop our the bioinformatics database is of great importance.The content of this article is about the design and application of the general bioinformatics database. The main task is to build a integrated bioinformatics database via XML and Gene Ontology.This system adopts client/server structure. After research the function and characters of mainly used bioinformatics Database of the world, I build a local bioinformatics DB, HDbio, based on relational DBMS. It integrated the most of generally used bioinformatics DB such as nucleic acid sequence database GenBank, protein sequence database SwissProt, protein molecule structure database PDB and etc. Data integration has a important problem:...
