RAKE receiver is one of the key technologies in the WCDMA baseband signal processing,which is widely used in spread spectrum communication systems to resist multipath fading and to improve the performance of WCDMA receivers. On the clew of my job ,this thesis discusses the principles of WCDMA downlink RAKE receiver and its implementations in order to find out an efficient ASIC scheme for downlink WCDMA RAKE receiver with lower power and less area. On this basis, we have finished the ASIC system-level design,the FPGA prototype verification and the tape-out of WCDMA downlink RAKE receiver. The test results illustrate the RAKE receiver can meet all the demands of 3GPP protocols and the whole system runs well. This thesis illustrates the RAKE receiver in WCDMA baseband system and the related basic knowledge of WCDMA physical layer. Based on this theory,minimization of area and simplification of compution,the impementations of all modules of downlink RAKE receiver are described in detail.Downlink RAKE receiver is implemented on our own WCDMA signal processing platform, on the basis of the traditional RAKE receiver,with pipeline structure and in Verilog HDL. Parallel processing,optimization and simplification of the algorithms are the most important characteristics in this design.
