Synthetic aperture imaging can get the source intensity by applying the degree of coherence of the observational data to IDFT. In practice synthetic aperture imaging requires processing vast raw data which always becomes a tough problem in science research. Parallel computing with properly parallel machines may be the best way to solve this kind of science problems. Among parallel machine models, Cluster technology has becoming a research hot spot because of its cost effective architecture and high performance.This article put forward a low cost, strong flexible, high performance synthetic aperture imaging algorithm. The system design in the article abandon the dependence of hardware and totally based on software technology .Chapter one of the thesis mainly explained the 21CMA project background and basic knowledge of synthetic aperture imaging and cluster computing. Chapter two describes the theory of synthetic aperture imaging. Chapter three describes cluster architecture of 21CMA.Chapter four puts forward reasonable parallel scheme aim at the whole imaging flow and Chapter five mainly deals with the data exchange .Chapter six optimizes complex correlation with and Intel SSE2 assembly instruction. Chapter seven of thesis is mainly the summarization for the whole article, and proposes the work to be done in the future.The main conclusion and progress made in this article, which are the works I am doing during the study for the M.S degree, are as follows:1. Through the study on synthetic aperture imaging theory, analyzes the imaging procedure and build up math model.2. Through the research on cluster technology, devise reasonable 21CMA cluster including designing cluster architecture, cluster bottom layer middle layer and application layer.3. On the basis of the rule of parallel program designing, combines physical imaging problem and exist parallel designing models to explore the imaging algorithm. The imaging algorithm belongs to middle granularity parallelism which combines data parallelism and pipeline model. And it adopts hybrid MPI+openMP designing model.4.
