Today, laser print output device has become the ideal output device in the area of O.A and electrical print. When we need output Chinese charaters, however, we can't get the high perfomace as output English characters.To some extent, this condition limited the utility of O.A and electrical print systems in our country. It is important and valuable to develope new high performance controller. The content of this paper is about the design and implementation of the new high performance controller.In the forward of this paper, we analyzes the setbacks of traditional laser printer controllers. And after concludes and discusses the two methods usually used to develope the perfomance when output Chinese Charaters, we get the idea of the research background on the high performance controller.The first chapter discusses the logic device technicals used in hardware designs and its new developments. Then discusses in detail the latest development of logic device technology-the high density programmable logic device.The development of new high performance controller is based on a controller which used TMS 34010 GSP as its CPU. Compares to the former controller, an important difference is the new controller will use a higher performace CPU - TMS 34020 GSP. The second chapter discusses TMS34020. It involves with the following information about the GSP: architecture and its character; memory organization; data strcture and function interfaces; etc.
