This dissertation is concerned with generating realistic graphics by computer. It is composed of four chapters. In Chapter Ⅰ the development and current status of the realistic graphics technique are reviewed, According to the contents of realistic graphics generating technology, this chapter consists of three sections: first, scene modeling is introduced, which contains solid modeling, curved surface modeling, and the simulation of irregular objects; second, illumination models are discussed according to their effects; third, rendering algorithms , ray-tracing algorithms, texture mapping, anti-aliasing approaches are analysed. In Chapter Ⅱ a solid modeling approach is introduced, which is based on Euler operations. This approach utilises half-edge representation which makes rendering algorithms compute fast. Euler operations ensure the topological integrity, so make it easy to ensure the validity of objects and unambiguous representation of objects, In order to be able to generate more...
