Comparing with the differential range method that early radar adoptive for measuring velocity, the radar, which based on Pulse-Doppler theory, has the better real time capability and high precision. Especially the application of phase-array technique in the field of radar, make the no inertia wave scan and fast mode conversion come true. So it is more easy to use Pulse-Doppler theory for measuring velocity.Making use of the Doppler information that was contained in echo of target, radar measure the velocity, separate target from clutter wave in frequency domain . It can check-up the echo of target which has the specifically distance and Doppler frequency shift, and filtrate clutter wave and disturb. So, it requests radar provided with the ability to restrain clutter wave for differentiating the echo of moving target. This article investigated background clutter waves distributing and signal process method when radar measured velocity with Pulse-Doppler theory: In allusion to the characteristic of phase-array radar, eliminating dark and avoiding blind when Pulse-Doppler velocity measuring was discussed. Using multi-pulse repetition signal to measure velocity was brought forward; In order to improve precision, combining with the project realization of Pulse-Doppler radar, measuring velocity by Pulse-Doppler pulse cluster was advanced, by irradiating target time after time, using accumulation of pulse cluster to improve Signal-to-Noise ratio, using range gate-Doppler filter technique to measure the spectrum of target, then, compensating insert value and acceleration of Doppler frequency, achieving the accurate velocity information of target by conversion of frequency and velocity.
