π/4-DQPSK is a modulation technique which is developed from the modulation technique of QPSK and OQPSK. It integrates the virtues of the QPSK and OQPSK .It has an excellent characteristic of anti-jamming and the demodulation of it is also comparatively easy. Because it has so many virtues that it is being used in many fields now all over the world, for example it is being used in satellite communicateons, in mobile communications, in WLAN, and so on. This paper introduces a detail design of an π /4-DQPSK transceiver including the SRRC, the Differential Encoding, the Differential Decoding, the bit synchronization and so on. Finally, the hardware design is complished in the using of the programmmmable downconverter-HSP50214B, the Programmable Logic Device-EP1C20. It has been proved that the π /4-DQPSK transceiver based on HSP50214B is designed with high integration and great flexibility. The design in this paper will provide technology for further design in the modern communication system in the future.
