The purpose of the Wireless Personal Area Network (WPAN) is to combine the personal terminal into a network within 10 meters by using the device of low power and low price. In order to satisfy the requirement of WPAN, the device working in the net must have the characteristic of small cubarage, low power, easily operation and so on. Ultra-Wide Band( UWB) communication has virtues of very wide sprectrum, low power spectrum density, high transmission rate, high multi-access capacity and so on. So it may be the best candidate for WPAN.In my paper, the core content is the research of several key technology for UWB communication. First, the method of modeling the indoor channel for UWB communication is introduced. After that, a simulation system based on the frequency hopping (FH) and OFDM is build. The channel coding is a key technology for a wireless communication system, so convolutional code and Turbo code is introduced in the system. The contribution of Turbo code is the idea of iterative computation and soft information. In my paper, a new signal processing method is introduced, which combine the advantage of Rake receiver and Turbo detection.In chapter one, the characteristic of UWB signal, development history and key technologies of UWB communication system are first introduced. The motivation and contribution of this project are explained. Then two main proposal for UWB communication is introduced.The wireless channel of UWB communication is studied in chapter two. The processing of modeling a multipath channel is first introduced. At the same time, the characteristic of the channel is discussed. I focus on the two popular channel-S-V channel and Intel channel.
