Predictive control is regarded as the most promising and advanced control algorithm. For complex control problems, model-based predictive control may give better control performance than the common PID control. Many big companies have embedded it into control system software and applied it successfully in some large-scale process control systems. However, predictive control scarcely applies in many medium-sized and small control systems. Because the predictive control algorithm needs much more skilled engineers than that of PID controllers. A major hurdle to successful implementation of predictive controllers at the DCS level is the limited support in terms of hardware, software, and personnel training. Also, implementing model-based control often requires a higher level of programming than is readily available at the DCS level. So based on the low-cost DCS platform and aiming at the characters of the medium-sized and small complex process control system, the thesis researched and developed the techniques to embed the predictive control algorithm into configuration control software at the DCS level, the design method to implement the predictive control algorithm utilizing multiple DCS configuration control software blocks and engineering tuning rules of the parameters of the control algorithm. It is important and helpful to study these problems to popularize predictive control technology.Chapter 1 is an introduction of the thesis. The background and significance of the study are firstly described, then the current application study situation of predictive control technology is reviewed. The main work of the thesis is proposed.Based on the discussion of basic and extension GPC, Chapter 2 analyzes the linear form of GPC. The conclusion is obtained that the SP-on-I PID control law is equivalent to the standard GPC for the following second-order delay-free and...
