Universal Serial Bus (USB) was first aimed at the shortcoming of traditional PC Bus. USB has been used widely in data exchange and storage of PC peripheral and mobile fields because of its characteristics of relative high speed, supporting of"Plug and Play", relative less requirement of resources.In order to satisfy the requirement of mobile data exchange, it's necessary to research and develop embedded USB host system. To solve this problem, USB OTG (USB On-The-Go) is one of the best choices. But we find in practice, sometime we need to copy data from one peripheral to lots of other similar peripherals. It's not a good idea to embedded OTG to all the peripherals. Because first this may increase cost, second sometime these peripherals can not be linked each other. We can develop a new device which contains USB host and peripherals. In virtue of this kind of device, we can easily solve this problem.In this paper, the USB host and peripheral protocol have been analyzed. Then we research and develop a new device named"USB Data Copy Machine". The main results are as follows:1. Read lots of USB technology data or papers, especially about USB host system and Flash File System;2. Read and research chipset datasheet, make out the system scheme, contains chipset selecting, scheme planning and PCB making;3. Research commercial FFS and FAT16, propose a suitable FFS;4. Research and develop embedded USB host and peripheral firmware.This paper realizes an embedded USB system which contains host and peripheral function. It is a new method and a new settle in the mobile data exchange area.The"USB Data Copy Machine"has been batch-made.
