Traveling-wave tubes are a kind of high gain, broadband, high efficiency and high power microwave/millimeter wave amplifiers, which are widely used in modem military electronic equipments, such as communications, radars, electronic warfare. The results of development of a new class of multimode high-power vacuum devices, named multiple beam TWTs (MBTWTs), and based on their amplifying chains are presented. Decrease of a supply voltage, an increase of efficiency, lowering of weights and dimensions both of microwave devices and their power supplies, extension of a bandwidth are required by the modern small-sized microwave equipment. The radical solution of this problem can be reached by using of the multibeam designs of devices. The main work and innovations of this paper are listed as follows:1) The high frequency characteristic of the coupled-cavity slow wave structure is simulated and calculated using CST-MWS software. The dispersion characteristic is simulated by resonance method;the interaction impedance is simulated by two methods mentioned by the paper.2) The static magnetic field distribution and the electron beams transmission characteristics are simulated using Static solver and PIC module of MAFIA codes in the PPM focusing system. The effects of the peak magnetic flux density, initial transversal velocity distribution and the transmission characteristics of the electron beams are mainly discussed.3) The binomial impedance converter and the Chebyshev impedance converter are simulated using CST-MWS. The S parameters and the VSWR of them are discussed.4) Importing in PIC module of MAFIA software with the simulation result of the cold cavity of the MBTWT, beam-wave interaction is simulated and analyzed qualitative. The simulation method mentioned by the paper makes some beforehand research for the software simulation application in MBTWTs.
