The research on remote monitoring toward distributed resources in computer field is a hot issue. It can save the cost efficiently concerning remote resources management. In the article a distributed resources remote monitoring system called DRRMS has been designed regarding practical demand. Comparing to some existing systems' shortcomings for their functions emphasis only on the active access and control, the DRRMS system enhances the function on passive caution.This article discusses the system's architecture, working model and security mechanism, carrying out full knowledge to its principle. The SNMP protocol is analyzed and modified with a store-transmit agent added. Based on them, the system builds a three-layer architecture. The technologies and theories including WMI, Hook and information security haven been discussed carefully in the article and they construct the function foundation of access and security. The article introduces the agent based fault detection theory and carries out a resource fault detection scheme. Especially a runtime feature based exception later detection scheme toward database application is put forward as a try in the field of software fault detection. A rule library is constructed on the basis of knowledge based fault diagnosis. The article also introduces the key implementation of the system covering network interface, work mode, agent store-transmit and others. With existing mature protocols and technologies, the system can obtain good extension, flexibility and security.Finally a prototype has been realized and tested. The two working mode, request-respond mode that access remote resource and trap mode that monitor the resource fault, reach the system function demand well. The research shows that the issue's purpose has been reached well.
