Web-based Online Examination System

With the rapid development of Internet, more and more web-based(or Internet-based) applications came into being in recent years. The Online TestingSystem(OTS) come into being in this condition. The Online TestingSystem, as a result of the combination of computer network technology and database technology, is an expansion of conventional exam room. It can realize automation examinations on many courses, using the resources of campus network.This paper puts its development under discussion. On analysis of the requirement of the systems of this kind, the systematic module and function was determined. Based on the ASP. NET & database technology , the author analyzed the key technology and questions of the design, and discussed the method of the realizing of the examination system, which is a muti-layer structured . Finally, the auther developed a practical examination system as to meet the expected requirements, such as the management of student' s information, the management of paper conveniently. And it realized the paper produced system, online examination, computer go over examination papers automatically, the test result analysis , test questions analysis , etc.In point of realizing, make use of ADO.NET package of ASP.NET to connect the webpage to the database. Make use of match of the word section to realize student's log-in and super-user' s management of the log-in function. Make use of Random function to choose the questions of the paper automatically. Backup the data and update itself. Make use of SQL sentence to realize the function that can analyze the test results and the paper detail.The author made a brief introduction to an online examination system based on B/S, a kind of multi-layer structure. Of course it is discussion about this kind of system in rough and we hope it is helpful for relatedpeople. Finally, the characteristics and advantages of theOnline Testing System are summarized. Future development and application perspective are also given.
