The Electronic Design Automation (EDA) technology has become an important design method of analog and digital circuit system as the integrated circuit's growing. During industry automation, the instrument that automatic measures variable in process control system is the key of revolution of automation system. Flowmeter of low velocity is subjected to noise disturb, the measuring accuracy in industrial fields is not high, the span ratio is lower than the theoretic value. It need adopts digital signal processing methods to improve flowmeter and get accurate velocity of flow measure result.But,adding arithmetic make MCU working overload,lower the capability of real time. FPGA have advantage in complex arithmetic.FPGA apply to DSP of intelligent instrument is a new method.This paper firstly present some background information about EDA, application of FPGA in digital signal process and digital signal process method of intelligent instrument. This subject adopts FPGA of ALTERA company as the decice of arithmetic process. It improve the speed and performance of flowmeter. This paper mainly included:[1] Principles of flowmeter have been studied, flow measure system that is based upon scheme using FPGA has been designed, System circuits has been cqmpleted and hardware system has been tested. [2] Improve FFT algorithm on the condition of real value, make use ofsymmetry and conjugate to eliminate redundence in FFT. [3] Use Verilog Hardware Description Language realize each functional moduleof cross correlation and FFT arithmetic.After the debugging and simulation of the system, FPGA make great progress in real time and stability of the data process by use of FPGA and reinforce the function which measures the low velocity of flow .
