With the increase of multicast applications, the progress of wireless technology and the popularization of mobile devices, it is highly expected to provide mobility support to mobile devices in mobile Internet. We investigate on new problems for reliable multicast in mobile Internet. We propose a reliable multicast protocol based on the proposed RGB model in mobile Internet .The reliable multicast protocol combines advantages of both the logical ring and the logical tree. It has the simplicity of logical rings and the scalability of logical trees. We divide the RGB model into multiple local scopes and implement reliable transmission within each local scope. We call such a scheme local-scope-based retransmission scheme. The proposed protocol also considers totally-ordered property, and designs three algorithms: membership propagation, topology maintenance, and multicast dissemination. The proposed protocol is local-information-based in the sense that each network entity in the RGB model independently propagates information along the hierarchy, and that each network entity only needs to maintain local information about its neighbors for topology maintenance. Simulation studies show that the proposed protocol based on the RGB model has high scalability and reliability when the size of the network becomes very large.
