This thesis is about the solution and optimization of GSM network capacity and GSM network quality. The main objective of the research is to find solutions for the improvement of GSM radio capacity and GSM radio network quality performance.About the solution of GSM radio capacity, the study is about the many ways of capacity expansion techniques such as cellular cell split, spread spectrum, frequency reuse, micro cell, pico cell, GSM900/1800 dual band and half rate feature. Apart from these, the research covers the live network hot spot traffic analysis and dynamic configuration of radio capacity. This technique is using the optical fiber repeater. From the BTS site, the radio signal is converted into optical signal and transfer via optical fiber to the remote site and the original signal is repeated with some gain to give coverage to the needed area. The advantage of this technique is that the BTS site can absorb traffic from many hot spot areas and provide solution and optimization for capacity needs.About the solution of GSM radio network quality, the study is about the many ways of improve GSM network quality such as GSM network quality indicator analysis, GSM optimization process flow, mobile network propagation model analysis, GSM radio time slot concept study, drop call analysis and the optimization technique of GSM 900/1800 dual band network. The main objective of this research is to find solutions for GSM network quality improvement such as the study about SDCCH channel function and the channel holding time. From that, the SDCCH traffic is calculated and the traffic model and channel usage pattern is drafted for the strategies of channel re-configuration and radio expansion. This optimization technique can improve network quality and at the same time save cost form over investment.
