Software To Restore The Strategic Research And Its Applications On Unix

With the fast development of the computer technique, and with the computer system widely used, the phenomenon of software aging leading to the system performance degradation even system collapse becomes prevalent. Software rejuvenation is a proactive technique to counteract the software aging. Software rejuvenation policy is a method which researches the procedure of the software rejuvenation that gets more and more attentions of people.First of all, we introduce the concepts such as software aging and software rejuvenation, and research three software rejuvenation policies: Time-based software rejuvenation policy, Measurement-based software rejuvenation policy and Nested time-based software rejuvenation policy, then compare the cost of three policies.Secondly, we analyze the structure of the UNIX system, the ways to scale the system performance. Then we analyze the bottleneck of the system performance, we measure the system and get the information of the system performance. Then we research three policies applied to the UNIX system, which will solve the possible problems that occur during the running of the UNIX system.Finally, we build a simulative system on the base of the information of real systems, and simulate a running system, which includes the natural running and software aging. And then according to configures of the system we set, we simulate three policies on the system. Through analyzing the result of the experiment, we get the cost of the policies, and the minimum cost policy.
