Research The Program Of The Rejuvenation About Phenomenon Of Software Aging And Use On The UNIX System

With the fast development of the computer technique, and with the computer systemwidely used, the phenomenon of software aging leading to the system performancedegradation even system collapse become prevalent. Software rejuvenation is a proactivetechnique to counteract the software aging. Software rejuvenation policy is a methodwhich researches the procedure of the software rejuvenation that gets more and moreattentions of people.First of all, we analyze the concepts such as software aging and software rejuvenation,and research three software rejuvenation policies: Time-based software rejuvenation policy,Measurement-based software rejuvenation policy and Nested time-based software rejuvenationpolicy, then compare the cost of three policies.Secondly, we introduce the structure of the UNIX system, the ways to scale the systemperformance. Then we analyze the bottleneck of the system performance, we measure thesystem and get the information of the system performance. Then we research three policiesapplied to the UNIX system, which will solve the possible problems that occur during therunning of the UNIX system.Finally, we build a simulative system on the base of the information of real systems,and simulate a running system, which includes the natural running and software aging. Andthen according to configures of the system we set, we simulate three policies on the system.Through analyzing of the result of the experiment, we get the cost of the policies, and theminimum cost policy.
